Background
  • 1960 – Drexelbrook Engineering Company Founded by Frederick L. Maltby.
  • 1962 – First radio frequency level control developed for light powders with 0.1pf sensitivity and stability.
  • 1963 – First High Pressure level sensor capable of withstanding pressures up to 20,000 psi.
  • 1965 – First RF continuous level transmitter with 0.2pf sensitivity, full scale.
  • 1967 – First RF continuous level transmitter with non-interacting adjustments.
  • 1969 – Introduction of Cote-Shield™ circuitry, which ignores material coatings on sensing elements.
  • 1970 – Cote-Shield™ circuitry for RF continuous level transmitters.
  • 1971 – Introduction of COMAD circuitry for RF continuous level measurement independent of moisture content.
  • 1973 – The original version of the RF “True Level” transmitter which corrects for changes in material composition.
  • 1975 – First two-wire, all-electronic universal level transmitter for liquids, slurries, granulars, and interfaces.
  • 1976 – First flush mounted sensing element with a Cote-Shield™ element for RF Open Channel Flow measurement.
  • 1978 – Factory Mutual entity-approved RF level transmitter.
  • 1979 – Pollution Engineering Award for RF Open Channel Flow transmitter.
  • 1980 – First two-wire, point level control system.
  • 1982 – Special RF point level control with retractable sensing element for crude oil / water interface indication in separator vessels.
  • 1984 – In-Line Fluid Detector for empty pipe, pump protection.
  • 1985 – Multipoint level detection, offers four setpoints in a single sensor.
  • 1985 – Drexelbrook opens office in Japan.
  • 1987 – LCT™ two-wire point level controls are FM approved as IS without barriers.
  • 1988 – Patented SEAL-TYTE™ sensing element to prevent leaks of gasses or osmotic fluids
  • 1989 – Checkwell™  level Monitor for continuous level measurement in water wells.
  • 1990 – Drexelbrook opens European office in The Netherlands.
  • 1992 – Drexelbrook introduces Ultrasonic product line
  • 1994 – Universal III™ - The first smart level transmitter with HART®
  • 1997 – CCS2000™ sudge blanket and clarity loss monitor.
  • 2000 – AMETEK acquires Drexelbrook Engineering Company.
